Top Ten Highlights of the Weekend

10. Waiting in line outside of The Venue, realizing that my age is double that of every other tweenager there.

9. Old Chicago calzones. Positively sinful....

8. Meeting The Rouge. Getting a picture with The Rouge. Watching our good friend tackle each member of The Rouge with a giant bear hug.

7. Harassing the overzealous security guard at the capitol building. A real-life Paul Blart.

6. Pirate Ping Pong until all hours of the night.
5. Going on a blissful morning run with Katy. Think no ice, no snow, and perfectly clear sidewalks. (taking notes, Rexburg?)

4. Scoring an autographed guitar pick from Parachute. (thanks Riley!)

3. Two full days of childless freedom to romp around the town with Riley. (thank you, thank you Grandpa Ray and Grandma Lorie)

2. Hearing "Annie" and "Stay", two favorite SAFETYSUIT songs, LIVE!. I plan to be on Cloud 9 over this one for another ten days.
1. Spending a much needed, carefree weekend with some of most rockin' people I know. Thanks Killian, Wilsons, Murrays, D'laney, Ray, and Lorie!

Getting Acquainted

I’m Destry. I have so much to love in my life. I love having family all around, creating something new every day, and challenging myself to try new things. Living in rural southeastern Idaho for the past five years has certainly had its charms. A big part of our life has been going to school at BYU-Idaho. I just recently graduated with a BS in Elementary Education. Rather than enter the work force immediately, I opted to stay home with our year old son, Hinder Kale.

Hinder is a ball of fire. From the moment he wakes up in the morning to the time his big, squishy cheeks hit the pillow he’s on a mission. He’s all boy, through and through. He loves balls, throwing, running, kicking, dancing, and eating. His tiny mouth has no problem making his independent will known. Some of his most frequent phrases are “want one”, “no touch it”, “ball”, “book”, and of course, “dada!”

Speaking of “dada!”…Riley is the rock that keeps our family functioning. He’s finishing up his last couple of courses, and he’ll graduate soon with a BS in Biology. He also works full-time at a company here, PCCI, as the training coordinator. He works hard for us. But he plays hard too. Anything extreme…and Riley’s there. Kiting and skiing are the main hobbies that overcome his life when the snow falls.

This is it. I’m officially entering the blogosphere. The picture sums it up. Whether this is a literary masterpiece that brings tears to the eyes of readers everywhere or a rambling monologue….it’s a toss up!
