Hinder Turns 4!

Our feisty Hinder Kale turned four on December 29th. After hemming and hawing about birthday parties/plans, I decided we weren't going to do an all-out themed party this year. I was just too tired after Christmas to put that together. We convinced him that a family day would be just as much fun, and I think he would agree that it was a pretty terrific birthday.
Presents were first thing on the agenda. Once again, the kid was tremendously spoiled.  Thanks again to aunts, uncles, grandmas, and grandpas who thought of H on his special day. His presents were themed around dinosaurs (obviously) and a new love (hurray!!!) Toy Story.
Toy Story 3 has been on running on a continuous loop since the 29th.

A perfect winter birthday outing= tubing on a giant hill! Hinder and his dad had the most fun. I mostly spent the time camped out with Vyla indoors. With a magic carpet to lift the tubes uphill, the boys tubed down run after run. This four year old was in heaven with his Dada.
Then we took him to a fun birthday lunch at a restaurant. It kills me to take a kid to a restaurant, watch them choose a corn dog or grilled cheese from the kids menu, and pay restaurant prices for something I could make at home for pennies. But I kept my frugal thoughts to myself and indulged the birthday boy. :)

Later that evening, we were scheduled to watch our friend's kids. We decided to throw a few pizzas in the oven, attempt to make a dinosaur birthday cake, and call it a party. The kids played awesome and had a good time. The more the merrier is the truth!
A few tootsie rolls and a cake mix can go a long ways! Certainly not Pinterest-worthy, but it got the job done.

About 4 Year Old Hinder:
Loves... orange soda, mustard, wearing pajamas all day and night, building with Legos or Tinker Toys, taking things apart with tools,Toy Story 3 and Shark Boy and Lava girl, being outside, drinking glass after glass of milk.
Hates...sitting down to eat any meal, wearing pants, skyping, being rushed to do anything, or being alone.
Scared of...the dark, zombies, being left and getting lost.
Talented at...riding his 2-wheeled bike, making others laugh, seeing relationships and connections between things, jumping/running/athletics, talking and telling stories.
Learning to... swim without a life jacket, dribble a basketball, match letters to sounds, read simple words.
Struggles with... not whining, getting up at night to use the bathroom, not seeing his Rexburg friends anymore, staying still in his Primary class, obey the first time asked, and being kind to his sister.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Hinder. We love you to bits!
