A Big Day for H

Hinder has been riding a 2-wheeled bike without training wheels for over a year now, so since he was about 3 1/2. He's a pretty athletic little kid, and he loves doing anything that dad likes to do.
The one issue with H and bike rides is that he needs help every time he stops to get started again. Without the training wheels to balance on while starting, it was a bit of a challenge for his short little legs.
That issue was officially resolved on our family bike ride last week. We set out on the South Portland greenbelt, enjoying the pleasant, not sticky, late afternoon air. I attempted to ride Riley's mountain bike, but the seat wasn't going to do it for this pregnant lady! I need a beach cruiser seat these days! So I took a walk, while the boys biked. Vyla had the best seat in the house on dad's handlebars. She couldn't get enough of dad's wheelies! Her face in this photo is so funny to me. So chill. She thinks she's pretty hot stuff.
Anyway, on the way back to the car, we had had enough of Hinder needing a push start every time he fell off, so Riley gave him a quick lesson on using the brakes to balance. And guess what?! It took about two tries and he had it! Nothing can stop him now!
It was a big obstacle for him to overcome, so we celebrated with frozen yogurt. H thought it was pretty cool that he got to choose any toppings he wanted.
