Independence Day and Beyond

This year was a different 4th of July than we're used it, but it was certainly was memorable! The bulk of the day was spent at Sebago Lake, kayaking around with the kids. Vyla couldn't make up her mind whether she liked riding in the boats, but kept insisting that she get in with 'Papa' Ray. She had him wrapped around her finger!

After hemming and hawing for months about where we should go to watch the evening fireworks, I'm so glad we stuck around Portland and enjoyed the fireworks and symphony on the Eastern Prom. Occasionally, it's nice to gather with a crowd of people and enjoy a spectacle! The patriotic music really added to the experience. Hinder scored a cool light up sword complete with sound effects. He wanted a picture posing as the Statue of Liberty. Such a serious face!

The last days of having Ray and Lorie here are sort of a blur now! We had so much fun packed into a short week and a half. At some point we...
*Toured Riley's campus.*
The kids found a perfect place to entertain themselves while Riley introduced his parents to every professor and dean that came through the door

*Took the kids to the Maine Children's Museum*
It was a great place to escape the heat and humidity. Thank you, AC! Vyla was very enthused by the space shuttle exhibit.
 *Patronized our favorite diner, Beckys!*
I ordered a baked lobster dinner for the first time. Riley and I had to split it, it was so much food!
Now I've officially had the "Maine" experience!
